Lloyd plays a small-town bumpkin trying to make it in the big city. Finding employment as a lowly department store clerk, he struggles to keep his job, whilst boasting of a big promotion in letters home to his sweetheart, Mildred. Then he comes up with a wild publicity stunt to draw attention to the store!
