A Grade ll listed house with extensive landscaped gardens, gifted for the use and enjoyment of the people by Henry Charles 'Inky' Stephens of the Stephens' Ink Company.

Access and facilities

Stephens House & Gardens is inclusive to all and has full disabled access to our gardens.

Access

The gardens are fully accessible and generally available during the hours of daylight. While we are delighted to be able to make the gardens accessible to all, free of charge, we ask that all those using the gardens, for whatever purpose, are aware that they do so at their own risk.  This is a large and very diverse area with many inherent dangers that require all users to take responsibility for their own safety. We want to keep the gardens open as much as possible, but to enable us to do this we do need users to be mindful, at all times, of their own safety and immediately report anything they consider to be dangerous to a member of staff in the house.

Access for wheelchairs

There is full access to the gardens for wheelchair users.  The house only has wheelchair access on the ground floor.

Playground

CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT

We hope to complete the project by the end of October 2024

Toilets

Toilet facilities are available in the Stables during the hours that the cafe is open. There is also a fully accesible Changing Places Toilet controlled by a RADAR key.  For those that do not hold a personal RADAR Key one is available on loan from the cafe counter.
