Keeping the Gardens Open in November

Gardens

The Gardens at Stephens House & Gardens cost money to run, and the Avenue House Estate Trust, which owns them, receives no Council or other funding to keep them open.  The Trust usually funds the Gardens with income from lettings and events in the House, but as we are being locked down from 5 November, we are not able to hold any events. We will have to furlough most  of our staff to protect their employment. However, we want to keep the gardens open and to do this we need your support.

We are immensely grateful to the team of regular volunteers that are working with our gardeners to keep the gardens maintained and safe.  However, we still need to pay staff to open, supervise, and close the Gardens, which costs the Trust about £6,000 a month (£200 a day).  Because the Trust currently has a severely reduced income, we are totally dependent on donations for this money, so we are asking for your help.  We were able to re-open earlier  in the year thanks to your support, but we need to do this every month until we can get our events business running again.

Please help us by donating what you can . The donations stack up quickly, especially with Gift Aid.  For example, if 300 people give us £20 a month, we will be able to open the Gardens right through November.  Our donation site is here.  Thank you.
