Please Volunteer to help keep the Gardens Open
We are planning a reopening of the gardens and need the help of those that volunteered to act as Garden Stewards to make this happen.
Volunteer Garden Steward
During the Current situation The Trust is looking for Volunteer Garden Stewards to enable the Gardens to be open to the public. Volunteers will act as a point of contact for visitors and offer additional information about the Gardens and help keep the Gardens safe for all visitors by reporting any problems to staff and advising visitors about the Garden’s rules.
What’s involved
Welcoming visitors and offering visitor information
Dealing with visitors’ enquiries
Advising visitors of the Gardens visitor dos and don’ts such as dogs, ball games or cycling in the Gardens
Helping keep areas clean and presentable through activities like litter picking
Displaying/removing signage in areas around the gardens
Being a visible presence and moving around all areas of the Gardens
Reporting potential hazards such as uneven pathways and hanging branches
Assisting with the closing of the Gardens
Communicating via radio
This role will suit people who...
Have an eagerness to work outdoors in all weathers
Are able to communicate effectively with visitors and members of the public
Availability and commitment
Both weekend & weekday shifts available.
Current proposed opening hours as at 31/12/20 are 10.00 – 14.00 subject to government advice updates. Shifts are of 2 hours duration. However a half hour induction session will also be added to first shifts
Training/ induction
In the do’s and don’t of the Gardens. Higher risk areas, radio communications, emergencies and evacuation.
