A Grade ll listed house with extensive landscaped gardens, gifted for the use and enjoyment of the people by Henry Charles 'Inky' Stephens of the Stephens' Ink Company.

Ink Bottle by Doulton of Lambeth (circa 1876)

This stoneware bottle was specially designed for Henry Stephens by Doulton.

Dr Stephens had started his company whilst living in Lambeth and by the 1840’s was selling ink to Doulton.

The diamond pattern shape is a design registration mark for 1876.

This bottle is nicknamed “Church Warden” by bottle collectors and is thought to have been made in 8 sizes.
